Days after a cash bribery attempt on a Feeding our Future trial juror, federal authorities conducted a four-hour search of Abdiaziz Farah’s home in Savage on Wednesday morning. None of the seven defendants currently on trial have been charged in connection to the alleged bribe.
Unprecedented Bribery Attempt Shocks Minnesota
A woman arrived at a juror’s Spring Lake Park home, leaving behind a $120,000 cash payment. This prompted the juror to alert authorities, resulting in their dismissal from the trial. Another juror was also dismissed after hearing about the incident from a family member. This extraordinary event, likened to the Jimmy Hoffa trial by a former Hennepin County judge, has raised eyebrows for its rarity in Minnesota.
Past Investigations into Farah’s Finances
This is not the first time Abdiaziz Farah’s home has been under scrutiny. In January 2022, it was searched as part of an investigation into alleged massive fraud involving federal child nutrition funds. The search revealed that the home was fully funded by money from the federal child nutrition program.
Ongoing Investigation and Trial
Farah, along with six other defendants, faces 41 charges in the ongoing trial. With Farah in custody since Monday, authorities are examining seized phones to trace any involvement in the attempted jury tampering. Meanwhile, the jury continues deliberations amidst the unfolding developments.
