Philadelphia authorities have apprehended a fifth suspect in connection with the mass shooting that occurred on March 6, leaving eight Northeast High School students injured as they waited for a SEPTA bus after school.

The newly arrested suspect, identified as 15-year-old Jeremiah Jefferson, faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault for his involvement in the March 6 shooting. Jefferson, a student at Northeast High School, was taken into custody on Thursday morning.

Prior to Jefferson’s arrest, police had already apprehended Asir Boone, Jamaal Tucker, Anhile Buggs, and Jermahd Carter in connection with the shooting. These suspects face similar charges, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, and criminal conspiracy.

Role in the Shooting

Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore revealed that Jefferson was allegedly inside a Dunkin’ near the scene, acting as a spotter for the other suspects who were waiting in a nearby vehicle. He reportedly identified potential targets and sent pictures of those waiting at the bus stop to his alleged accomplices. Surveillance footage captured Jefferson’s presence during the incident and his departure from the scene.
