Las Vegas, Nev. – A gas leak in the central Las Vegas Valley has prompted residents to evacuate, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue (LVFR).
Incident Details
LVFR received a call just after 12 p.m. reporting a gas line strike at the intersection of E. Washington Avenue and N. Bruce Street. Upon arrival, crews confirmed a two-inch gas line strike, categorizing the incident as significant.
Evacuation and Road Closures
In response to the gas leak, authorities closed Washington Avenue between 18th Street and Bruce Street to facilitate repairs. Additionally, residents in the vicinity were asked to evacuate for their safety.
Third Party Involvement
Southwest Gas, the utility company responsible for the gas line, confirmed that the line was struck by a third party during excavation work.
