Mirage Elementary is part of the no-excuses university program, a national initiative aimed at equipping students with the tools they need for success beyond high school. It’s a national program that we’re a part of, and it is just that, Cerro emphasized. There’s no excuses that beyond high school, there is a future for you, and for the elementary schools at No Excuses University, it’s university.

Decked out in vibrant hues representing various colleges, students passionately chanted songs and cheers, vying for the coveted spirit stick. Despite last-minute adjustments to their cheers, such as fourth-grader Matthew Kathan’s improvised chant, the event radiated enthusiasm and dedication to future educational endeavors.

Amidst the celebration of collegiate spirit, students like sixth-grader Brooklyn Uhl already have their sights set on specific institutions. I want to go to UCLA and play soccer, expressed Uhl, underscoring the individual aspirations nurtured within the school’s supportive environment.
