Gunshot Victim Found in Indianapolis Apartment Complex

Indianapolis police discovered a gunshot victim behind an apartment complex located on the northeast side of the city Saturday night.

Police Response and Investigation

During a media briefing, IMPD Captain Mark McCardia revealed that officers were already in the vicinity of the 6300 block of Brookline Drive when they heard gunshots around 9 p.m. Upon investigating the area, law enforcement officers found a male who had sustained gunshot wounds behind a nearby apartment building.

McCardia stated that the victim was promptly transported from the scene to a local hospital. However, as of the initial report, police were still working to ascertain the male’s age and the severity of his injuries resulting from the shooting.

Additional Victim at Community North Hospital

In an update provided around 11 p.m. Saturday, IMPD disclosed that its officers responded to Community North Hospital following a report concerning an individual who had arrived at the facility with gunshot wounds.

Upon arrival at the hospital, authorities confirmed that the person in question had indeed suffered injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. Notably, the individual who sought medical attention at Community North Hospital was reported to be in stable condition, according to IMPD.

Investigators are currently operating under the belief that the individual who presented themselves at Community North Hospital is linked to the shooting incident on Brookline Drive.

Seeking Community Cooperation

In a plea for community assistance, Captain McCardia emphasized the significance of information-sharing in such cases. He highlighted the crucial role that community members can play in aiding law enforcement efforts.

McCardia stated, The conversations on the scene are always important. But often people don’t want to talk to us on the scene at night. So, there are conversations afterward. Somebody out there knows something about this, other than the person that has been shot. So, we’re investigating with people on the scene. Detectives are talking to people on the scene.

He further added, Somebody out there knows something, and unless they want their community to keep having shootings, they need to call our aggravated assault detectives or Crime Stoppers to give us some information on this because we need to know what’s going on.
