FAYETTE COUNTY, Texas – Authorities in Fayette County are on the lookout for a man who led them on a high-speed chase exceeding 130 mph. The pursuit unfolded during a routine traffic stop on State Highway 71 near La Grange.

The Chase

Deputies initiated a traffic stop on 24-year-old Calin Morgan of Houston, who confessed to possessing narcotics. When asked to step out of the vehicle, Morgan evaded the authorities, accelerating eastbound on SH 71 towards Colorado County, reaching dangerous speeds while also turning off his vehicle lights.

Capture Efforts

The Colorado County Sheriff’s Office intervened, deploying spike strips to halt Morgan’s vehicle just west of the Colorado River bridge. Despite efforts, Morgan abandoned his vehicle and fled into a nearby pasture. Law enforcement conducted an extensive search, including employing an Infrared Thermal Imaging Drone, but Morgan eluded capture.

Warrant Issued

A warrant has been issued for Morgan’s arrest. Deputies recovered a loaded Glock 22 from his vehicle but have no indication that he was armed with any additional weapons during his escape. The search for Morgan continues as authorities work to bring him to justice.
