Las Vegas, Nev. – A homicide investigation has led to the closure of a block in downtown Las Vegas on Wednesday morning, according to reports from NEWS.ORG 5. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) responded to the 800 block of 6th Street, situated between Hoover Avenue and Gass Avenue, around 4:30 a.m. following reports of an incident.
Victim Found Shot on Sidewalk
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered an unhoused man in his 60s suffering from a gunshot wound. Tragically, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed.
Potential Suspect Description Released
LVMPD Lt. Jason Johansson revealed that witnesses had identified a potential person of interest. The individual is described as a white male, reportedly seen leaving the area wearing a white shirt and blue jeans. However, Lt. Johansson emphasized that it remains unclear whether this individual is a suspect or simply another witness to the incident.
Road Closure and Access to Mexican Consulate
As a result of the ongoing investigation, the only road closure reported is on 6th Street. However, those needing access to the Mexican Consulate are advised that entry can be gained through 7th Street.
