The incident unfolded at Schoenherr and Park Grove streets on Detroit’s east side around 10:50 p.m. The suspects abruptly stopped the stolen vehicle and opened fire, striking Reckling in the head and chest. Fortunately, the other detectives nearby escaped injury.
