After a brief closure due to a truck accident, I-95 northbound near the Betsy Ross Bridge interchange has reopened to traffic, announced by PennDOT.
Northeast Philadelphia – The incident occurred when a tractor-trailer clipped the bottom of the blue railroad bridge that runs over I-95 and alongside the Betsy Ross Bridge. This resulted in a reduction of the highway to one lane. The accident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Monday, causing a significant backup on I-95 north in the area of Vine Street and the Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue interchange.

The accident led to hours of congestion as Conrail bridge engineers conducted an inspection and established an emergency repair plan. After extensive work, PennDOT announced the closure of northbound Interstate 95, with detours in place, starting at 10:00 p.m. on Monday.
