According to KPD reports, the officer attempted to stop the stolen vehicle, prompting the suspects to maneuver into a parking lot to evade detection. Upon locating the car, the officer activated police lights and called for backup. In an effort to immobilize the vehicle, a tire deflation device was deployed under the rear tire. Ignoring the deflated tire, the driver reversed sharply, crashing into the police cruiser and another parked car.
