(FOX5) – Judy Roman and Greg Mains faced a devastating loss when their houseboat, serving as their part-time residence at the Las Vegas Boat Harbor, was engulfed in flames during a recent fire. The incident, which occurred over the weekend, resulted in significant damage to the marina, with 26 boats affected and 11 completely destroyed.

Surveillance Footage Reveals the Tragedy

Upon receiving news of the fire early Sunday morning, Roman and Mains, who were away in California with their RV, turned to surveillance footage for clarity. Their houseboat, cherished as home base, held all their valuables and personal belongings, now lost beneath Lake Mead’s waters.

In an emotional statement to NEWS.ORG 5, Roman expressed the profound impact of the loss: Everything’s gone. Everything’s on there: paperwork, photos, photos of my kids. It’s really difficult. Despite the devastating setback, she finds solace in the support of fellow fire victims, emphasizing solidarity amidst shared grief.

Roman recounted how they acquired the houseboat during the COVID-19 pandemic, turning a vintage vessel into a comfortable retreat through diligent renovations. While insurance offers some coverage, it falls short of addressing the full extent of their losses, including their pontoon boat, essential for transporting belongings.
