Leander, Texas – Shaun Noll, a resident of Leander, Texas, had an unexpected and harrowing experience this Easter when a lithium battery explosion ravaged his home. The incident unfolded on Thursday morning when Noll’s two young sons were in the living room and witnessed the battery, charging a cordless vacuum, suddenly explode.
Noll recounted the event, stating that his sons noticed the smell and witnessed the battery starting a small fire before quickly seeking help from a neighbor. The situation escalated rapidly, prompting the neighbor to call 911 while Noll rushed home from his job site.
Caught on Camera: Destruction Unfolds
Noll’s Ring security cameras captured the entire incident, allowing him to witness the destruction in real-time as he hurried home. Upon arrival, he was met with the devastating sight of his home engulfed in flames. Everything inside, from walls to belongings, was destroyed, leaving only charred remnants behind.
Gratitude Amid Loss
Despite the extensive damage and loss of belongings, Noll expressed gratitude that his sons escaped unharmed. The family tragically lost two cats in the fire, while a third is currently hospitalized but expected to recover.
Rebuilding and Support
As Noll and his children begin the arduous process of rebuilding their lives, they have received an outpouring of support from their community. Noll’s sister, Amanda Bianchi, launched a GoFundMe campaign to help replace lost items and support the family until insurance matters are resolved.
Additionally, Danielson Middle School in Leander is organizing a donation drive to provide essential items for Noll’s sons. Bianchi emphasized the importance of caution when dealing with lithium batteries, urging people to avoid leaving devices charging unattended.
Finding Normalcy Amid Chaos
Despite the tragedy, the family is striving to maintain a sense of normalcy, particularly on Easter Sunday. Plans for a dinner and Easter egg hunt are underway to provide moments of joy amidst the upheaval.
Community Support Continues
Bins have been placed outside Noll’s home for donations, with the community rallying together to offer assistance during this challenging time. Noll expressed his gratitude for the support and indicated that donations would be continuously monitored in the days ahead.
