Long Beach Memorial Day Ceremony to Honor Fallen Military Members
The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) has announced plans to establish a DUI checkpoint in the northern part of Long Beach on Friday, May 24. The checkpoint, operational from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., will be positioned within LBPD’s North Division, covering the majority of the city above Wardlow Road. The exact location of the checkpoint remains undisclosed, with law enforcement basing their selection on historical data regarding DUI incidents.
Deterring Impaired Driving
Such operations aim to deter impaired drivers from taking to the roads. According to LBPD Lt. Jose Flores, impaired driving poses a significant risk to road users. He emphasizes the importance of prevention measures in enhancing traffic safety, underscoring that reducing the number of impaired drivers can lead to substantial improvements in overall road safety.
Financial and Legal Consequences
The LBPD also highlights the financial and legal consequences of driving under the influence. Even a first-time DUI offense can result in substantial penalties, with fines and penalties averaging around $13,500, along with the suspension of the offender’s driver’s license.

In the face of rapid developments such as crime incidents and disasters, reliable reporting remains essential. The Long Beach Post prides itself on delivering timely and accurate information to the community, thanks to its dedicated team of reporters and photographers who rush to the scene to provide updates. Emphasizing Prevention
The proactive approach taken by the LBPD, exemplified by initiatives like DUI checkpoints, underscores the importance of prevention in tackling road safety issues. By raising awareness and enforcing consequences for impaired driving, law enforcement aims to create safer road environments for all.
