Louisville, Kentucky – In a harrowing incident captured on body camera footage, Louisville Metro Police confronted a United States Air Force veteran, Nicholas Pierce, in Pleasure Ridge Park. The confrontation ended in Pierce being fatally shot by officers after charging at them with a 7-inch knife.

Earlier in the day, Pierce had made a 911 call, prompting police and EMS response to his residence on Crawford Avenue for a medical emergency. However, due to safety concerns related to Pierce’s dog, officers couldn’t approach. Later that evening, Pierce made another frantic 911 call, refusing to cooperate and brandishing a weapon.
Confrontation Escalates
Body camera footage reveals officers urging Pierce to come out peacefully. However, he emerged from the house armed with a knife, refusing commands to drop it. Despite attempts to subdue him with tasers, Pierce persisted in charging at the officers, leading them to open fire.

Officers Bailey Siegrist, Christine Silk, and Noah Sheets, all relatively new to the force, discharged their weapons, striking Pierce. The officers were subsequently placed on administrative leave pending an investigation, as per protocol.
