Louisville Metro Police Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel stated that officers from the department’s Criminal Interdiction Unit were surveilling the area of South Third Street and West Kenton Street around 3 p.m. as part of an ongoing homicide investigation in the Wilder Park neighborhood. The detectives were monitoring a person of interest related to multiple homicides that occurred over the past weekend.

Confrontation Escalates

Upon approaching the suspect, identified as a 17-year-old, the police officers observed him displaying a firearm and attempting to escape.
