Deputies in Yucca Valley, California, apprehended a man suspected of driving under the influence (DUI) following a series of accidents, one of which resulted in injuries to a pregnant woman. Wayne Major, the individual in question, was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI after law enforcement officials discovered him in possession of fentanyl subsequent to two separate collisions in Yucca Valley on Monday.
The Sequence of Events
The initial collision transpired prior to 4 p.m. at the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway and Sage Avenue. Major purportedly collided with a stationary vehicle waiting at a red light, after which he purportedly fled the scene, heading south on Sage Avenue. Shortly thereafter, Major was involved in another collision at the intersection of Aster Avenue and Onaga Trail. Once more, Major reportedly failed to halt at the intersection, resulting in a collision with another vehicle. Notably, the driver of the vehicle struck in the second incident was in the late stages of pregnancy.
Severity of the Incidents
The second collision proved particularly grave, leading to Major’s vehicle overturning multiple times before coming to a halt in a residential yard. Both the pregnant woman and Major’s passenger sustained injuries requiring medical attention. Major’s passenger reportedly suffered traumatic injuries, as noted by deputies. Major himself sustained significant injuries and was subsequently hospitalized. Following his release from medical care, Major was booked into custody.
