Chicago was rocked by a series of shootings on Saturday night, leaving devastation in its wake. Among the tragedies was a mass shooting in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, resulting in the death of an 8-year-old girl and injuries to 10 others.
Tragic Incident Details
The incident occurred during an outdoor family gathering near 52nd Street and Damen Avenue on the South Side. Gunfire erupted around 9:18 p.m., claiming the life of the young girl and injuring individuals ranging from 1 to 40 years old. As of now, the suspect remains at large, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

The mass shooting was not an isolated event but part of a night plagued by violence across Chicago. From 9 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday, authorities responded to at least a dozen shootings, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries.

- 21-Year-Old Woman: Killed during a fight in the 9300 block of South Bishop.
- 23-Year-Old Man: Fatally shot in the 3500 block of West Harrison.
- 30-Year-Old Man: Killed in a shooting on the street in the 4800 block of West Arthington.
Injuries
- 15-Year-Old Boy: Wounded in the chest during the same incident as the 21-year-old woman.
- 9-Year-Old Boy: Struck by gunfire in the 1500 block of South Sawyer.
- 27-Year-Old Man: Found unresponsive in the 10500 block of South Edbrooke and currently in critical condition.
- 22-Year-Old Woman: Shot while in a vehicle in the 3300 block of West Beach.
- 26-Year-Old Woman: Injured while walking on the sidewalk near West 27th Street and South State Street.
- Three Men: Wounded in the 5600 block of South Wood.
- Two Teenage Boys: Injured in a drive-by shooting in the 7800 block of South Christiana.
- 21-Year-Old Man: Grazed by gunfire in an alley near 47th and South Loomis.
- 37-Year-Old Man: Shot during a gathering in the 5500 block of West Congress.
Seeking Justice
Despite the severity of the incidents and the number of victims, authorities have not yet apprehended any suspects in connection with these crimes. The community awaits answers and action to address the ongoing violence plaguing Chicago’s neighborhoods.
