Amarillo, Texas – After over a decade, authorities in Amarillo have announced a remarkable discovery – Jessica Delgadillo, a woman missing for 13 years, has been found alive.
A Long Wait Ends
Jessica Delgadillo was reported missing by her family on October 20, 2010, at the age of 14. The Amarillo Police Department launched an investigation after she failed to return home from school that day.
The Cold Case Unit’s Role
The case took a significant turn with the establishment of the Cold Case Unit by the Amarillo Police Department in 2023. This specialized unit delved into three cases, including that of Dorien Thomas, Brandy Noble, and Jessica Delgadillo. Their efforts received reinforcement from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which dispatched two representatives to Amarillo to aid in the investigations.
A Breakthrough Discovery
On November 2, 2023, a call to the Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit brought astonishing news – a woman claiming to be Jessica Delgadillo had come forward, acknowledging that she was aware of her reported disappearance. The woman consented to providing DNA swabs, which were sent to the University of North Texas for comparison with samples from a known family member. Months later, the DNA results confirmed her identity, closing the chapter on her long-standing cold case.
The Mystery Persists
Despite the closure of her case, Jessica Delgadillo has chosen to keep her current whereabouts and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance private.
The Amarillo Police Department and investigators involved have respected her wishes, allowing her to move forward with her life beyond the shadow of her past.
