A motorcyclist is in critical condition following a collision on Friday night in Tippecanoe County, as reported by the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office.

According to authorities, the incident occurred at the intersection of County Road 800 S and County Road 200 E. Initial reports indicated a personal injury crash at the location.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a 2013 Chrysler Town and Country, driven by an 85-year-old woman from Crawfordsville, Indiana, was attempting to make a left turn onto County Road 200 E. However, the vehicle turned in front of a westbound 2003 Suzuki GX3 motorcycle, leading to a collision at the intersection. The impact resulted in the motorcyclist being ejected into a nearby ditch.

Fire and Rescue Efforts

Following the collision, both vehicles involved caught fire. Fortunately, the elderly driver and an 84-year-old passenger from the Chrysler Town and Country managed to escape the vehicles.

Emergency services promptly responded to the scene. The motorcyclist, who sustained critical injuries, was rushed to IU Arnett Hospital for urgent medical care. The driver and passenger of the Chrysler Town and Country were also transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Due to the severity of the incident, authorities closed the intersection for approximately two hours to facilitate investigation and cleanup operations.
