Police Disband Protest Camp in Ann Arbor

Testimony resumed on Tuesday in the trial of two men accused of the murder of Dan ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson, a prominent jeweler from Oak Park, Michigan.

The trial centers around the murder of Dan Hutchinson, a well-known figure in the Oak Park community, who was fatally shot on June 1, 2022, while sitting in his SUV with his wife Marisa outside an Oak Park pawn shop they were planning to open. Authorities allege that Marco Bisbikis, Dan’s attorney, orchestrated the murder after inserting himself into Hutchinson’s will and trust.

The defendants in the case are Roy Larry, accused of carrying out the murder, and Marco Bisbikis, accused of hiring Larry for the deed.

Larry’s Testimony

Roy Larry took the stand on Tuesday afternoon in his own defense. He admitted to having a criminal record, including a past conviction on drug charges in 1997, but denied being a killer.

Larry claimed that he had not spoken to his cousin, Darnell Larry, about the murder and denied any involvement in the crime. However, Darnell Larry testified that he paid Roy to carry out the murder at the behest of Bisbikis.

Larry recounted his activities on the day of the murder, stating that he was at Darnell’s house in Detroit, where he left gloves, and later returned to retrieve a car title. He denied being involved in the shooting and refuted claims that he was the man seen in surveillance footage near the crime scene.

Cross-Examination

During cross-examination, Larry became argumentative with the prosecutor, denying allegations and contradicting evidence presented in court.

He denied being at a bike shop, despite evidence suggesting otherwise, and disputed claims that he was in Darnell Larry’s car on the day of the murder.

The prosecution pressed Larry on discrepancies in his statements to the police, including his whereabouts and interactions on the day of the murder.

Conclusion: Continuing Legal Proceedings

The trial of Marco Bisbikis and Roy Larry will resume on Wednesday morning, with further testimony expected from witnesses.

In addition to Bisbikis and Larry, three other individuals, including Darnell Larry, have been charged in connection with Hutchinson’s murder. Larry and another defendant, Raptoplous, have accepted plea deals and agreed to testify against Bisbikis and Larry.
