Las Vegas, Nevada – A new initiative aimed at keeping pets in their homes and aiding in the swift recovery of lost pets has been introduced by the Animal Foundation. The recently inaugurated Pet Support Hotline has already garnered significant attention, receiving close to 3,000 calls since its soft launch just a month ago.
Versatile Assistance for Pet Owners
The hotline, spearheaded by Animal Foundation CEO Hilarie Grey, serves as a multifaceted resource for pet owners and concerned citizens alike. Its primary functions include assisting individuals in locating their missing pets and guiding those who have found stray animals through the necessary steps to ensure their safe return home.
Grey emphasizes the hotline’s role in providing support to pet owners who may be contemplating surrendering their animals. By offering resources and advice, such as access to pet food, assistance with pet-related expenses like rent, and connections to low-cost veterinary care, the hotline aims to alleviate the burden on individuals facing challenges in caring for their pets.
Operational Details
Operational seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., the hotline is staffed with four dedicated customer service representatives specifically trained for this purpose. With the shelter witnessing a surge in intake, including over 300 kittens in the past month alone, the hotline’s implementation comes at a crucial time.
Grey underscores the importance of diverting pets from shelters whenever possible, stating, Getting those lost pets home and saving them a trip to the shelter, and then helping the people who are struggling to be able to keep their pets, is gonna make sure that we have the space and resources to devote to the animals that need us the most.
Monitoring Progress
While it’s too early to gauge the hotline’s impact on intake numbers, Grey assures that the organization will closely monitor its effectiveness in the coming months. By assessing data and feedback, they aim to continually refine and improve the services offered through the hotline.
