Officials from the NFL and City of Detroit have revealed exciting new details and renderings for the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft set to take place in Downtown Detroit this April.
New Details Unveiled
John Barker, leading the NFL production team, recently presented the plans to the Detroit City Council. According to reports from Outlier Media and the Detroit Documenters, the draft promises to be a significant event for the city.
Free Attendance and Extensive Venue
One notable aspect of the draft is that all three days will be free for attendees. The venue will stretch across Cadillac Square, Campus Martius, Woodward Ave., and Hart Plaza. The draft stage will be located near Cadillac Square, while the NFL Draft Experience will be situated at Hart Plaza.
Schedule and Event Highlights
With free entry, gates will open at 12 p.m. on Thursday and Friday for Rounds 1-3, and 9 a.m. on Saturday for Rounds 4-7. The detailed schedule for each day is as follows:
Thursday, April 25 (Round 1)
- Gates Open: 12 p.m.
- Draft Experience: 12 p.m.
- Draft Pre-show: TBD
- Draft Theater: 8 p.m.

Construction Details and Road Closures
Barker mentioned that load-in and theater structure construction will commence by the end of the month. Additional construction on other draft areas is scheduled for April 8 and April 15. Woodward Ave. is expected to close on April 22, as per the NFL’s announcement.
Utilization of Downtown Spaces
Apart from the main venue, several other downtown areas will host viewing opportunities and supplementary events. These locations include Capitol Park, Grand Circus Park, Beacon Park, and more.
