COLUMBUS, Ohio – With the Ohio State Football spring game and the 4 Miler race happening back-to-back this weekend, Columbus is gearing up for an eventful few days. Here’s what you need to know if you plan on attending either event.
Game Day Logistics
If you’re heading to the Ohio State Football spring game, navigating around the stadium area might require some adjustments. The Olentangy Trail reroute will be shifted east to Tuttle Park Place, with access onto Woody Hayes Drive. Additionally, parking around the stadium will be challenging due to construction.
Parking Updates
The lot on Cannon Drive between John Herrick and the Mid Tower parking lot is closed for construction. Starting at midnight on Friday, the West Stadium lot will also be closed as it’s being used for game broadcasting and hosting the Ohio State football coaches’ clinic. Similarly, a portion of the St. John Arena Lot north of Converse Hall will be off-limits. Violators risk being towed, so caution is advised. Both lots are expected to reopen after the game.
Ohio State 4 Miler
On Sunday, the Ohio State 4 Miler race will commence at 4 a.m. Tuttle Park Place, south of Woody Hayes Drive, will be closed at that time. Additional campus roads will be shut down from 9:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Various roads including Neil Avenue, Lane Avenue, High Street, Woodruff Avenue, College Road, 19th Avenue, 18th Avenue, 10th Avenue, 12th Avenue, and Annie and John Glenn Avenue will be inaccessible during this period.
Parking Options
For those driving to the 4 Miler, public parking is available for $10.00, payable by debit or credit card only. Green spaces along Fred Taylor Drive, Jack Nicklaus Dr., West Lane Ave, and others are designated for public parking. However, areas marked with other colors on the parking map are permit-only or construction zones.
Conclusion: Plan Ahead
With the Ohio State Football spring game and the 4 Miler drawing large crowds to Columbus, planning ahead is essential for a smooth experience. Be mindful of road closures and parking restrictions to avoid any inconvenience during these exciting events.
