Berkley, Michigan – Police are on the lookout for a speeding driver who led them on a chase through Berkley on March 2. The pursuit began when an officer attempted to stop a driver for exceeding the speed limit by nearly double in the area.

The driver, behind the wheel of a white Alfa Romeo Giulia, was spotted traveling at 67 mph in a 35 mph zone on Coolidge around 4:55 p.m. on Saturday. When signaled to stop by law enforcement, the vehicle fled northbound towards Woodward Avenue.

Evasion Tactics

Despite efforts by police to apprehend the driver, the pursuit continued as the vehicle headed south on Woodward. Heavy traffic obscured the car from view near Catalpa, briefly halting the chase. However, officers managed to locate the driver again at Coolidge and 11 Mile.

In a dramatic turn of events, the suspect attempted to evade capture by backing into another vehicle and fleeing once more. This maneuver forced an officer to leap out of harm’s way to avoid being struck by the fleeing vehicle.
