In a heartwarming gesture, MechaniCool LLC of Queen Creek and General Metals Mfg. & Supply collaborated to gift Sandra McPherson, a Mesa widow, a brand-new heating and air-conditioning system. The presentation of this thoughtful gift took place on January 4 at the Duchess Bar & Grille in East Mesa, where Sandra works as a karaoke host.
The Unusual Revelation
The surprise unfolded after Sandra’s karaoke performance when MechaniCool owners, Jamie and Robert Geng, along with General Metals, presented her with the unexpected gift. Sandra, who also owns a karaoke company alongside her daytime job, assumed Jamie would be joining her on stage for a song, as they had done in the past. However, Jamie announced the extraordinary gift, revealing that General Metals would provide a new HVAC unit, and MechaniCool would install it at no cost.
A Gesture Rooted in Loyalty and Compassion
Clinton Chatfield, development manager for MechaniCool LLC, shared that Sandra had been a loyal customer for approximately seven years, dating back to the company’s inception. After losing her husband to COVID and facing additional challenges, Sandra had informed the Gengs in October that her air conditioning system was malfunctioning, and the temperature in her home had reached 91 degrees.
“We were able to find the issue and ‘patch it’ for her to get her up and running for a month or so,” Chatfield explained. “However, the repairs on the unit are costly, and it would be recommended to replace the whole unit. Unfortunately, Sandra was unable to financially commit to replacing or repairing the unit.”
Overwhelming Surprise and Emotional Moments
On the night Sandra learned about her gift, she was genuinely surprised, and a crowd of witnesses captured the emotional moment. The group included MechaniCool co-owner Nick Geng and his daughter Rowan, Jeremiah Gunderson (regional manager of General Metals Mfg & Supply), and MechaniCool technicians Tyrone Williams and Ben Rodarte. Chatfield described Sandra’s reaction as filled with tears and shock, emphasizing that she and the Gengs shared hugs of joy.
Timely Installation and Positive Impact
The new HVAC unit arrived at Sandra’s home the following week, coincidentally during a cold spell. The installation proceeded flawlessly, restoring heat to her home that very night. Chatfield expressed his satisfaction, stating that the experience affirmed his belief in working for a company with selfless individuals dedicated to customers and community.
A Warm Home, A Warmer Heart
The collaborative effort of MechaniCool LLC and General Metals Mfg. & Supply not only provided Sandra McPherson with a functional HVAC system but also warmed the hearts of those involved. This touching story reflects the positive impact that compassionate gestures can have on individuals facing challenging circumstances.
