Preparing for Rain in Philadelphia Area
Philadelphia and surrounding regions brace for more rain this weekend, following a recent spell of wet weather.
Flood Watch in Effect
A Flood Watch remains active for Mercer, Ocean, and Burlington counties, where approximately 3 inches of rain have fallen since the beginning of March. With an additional 1-2 inches expected, localized flooding is a concern. Residents are advised to monitor streams and creeks closely.
Nightly Soaking Expected
Tonight, a steady downpour will impact the evening commute, potentially causing ponding on roads. The rain is forecasted to taper off by 8 p.m., though lingering showers are anticipated throughout the late night. Temperatures will hover in the 40s.
Thursday Outlook
Tomorrow, winds will shift to a northerly direction, bringing drier conditions but maintaining overcast skies. While isolated showers are possible, the day is expected to remain dreary, with temperatures reaching around 58°F.
Clearing Skies on Friday
Friday offers a reprieve from the rain, with ample sunshine and highs in the upper 50s. It’s a perfect opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.
Weekend Rainfall Returns
However, clouds will reappear on Saturday as another low-pressure system approaches from the Ohio Valley. Rain is forecasted to begin in the afternoon and intensify into the evening, potentially bringing an additional inch of precipitation to the saturated ground. Saturday’s high is expected to reach near 50°F.
Sunday Forecast
Rain and drizzle may persist into Sunday morning before giving way to some sunshine in the afternoon. Temperatures will remain mild, with highs around 54°F. However, windy conditions are anticipated, with gusts up to 30mph.
Start of the Week
Monday will bring abundant sunshine but cooler temperatures, with highs reaching only 48°F. Strong gusts of 45-50mph will contribute to a noticeable chill in the air. Tuesday and Wednesday promise milder conditions, with highs in the low 50s and 60s, respectively.
Stay Weather Aware
As the weekend approaches, residents are urged to stay informed about changing weather conditions and take necessary precautions to stay safe amidst the wet and windy conditions. Monitor local forecasts and heed any advisories to minimize the impact of the upcoming rain.
