Witnesses reported a red pickup truck allegedly pointing a gun at a black SUV on June 4. Officers intercepted the truck on the Southeast 15th Street offramp from I-35.

Upon stopping James Way, the driver, he admitted to engaging in a road rage confrontation where he brandished his firearm. Way claimed he was cut off and brake checked by the SUV driver but denied firing the weapon.

During a search of Way’s vehicle, officers found a black pistol with live rounds, one of which was missing from the magazine.
