Part of Airways Boulevard in Orange Mound was closed for several hours on Friday as Memphis Police (MPD) conducted a search of a residence in pursuit of a man wanted for robbery in Southaven. The suspect, however, evaded capture, leaving authorities empty-handed.

Southaven Police had reason to believe that the robbery suspect was in the vicinity of Airways and Lamar Avenue, prompting MPD to deploy a significant police presence and shut down the area around noon. Upon arrival at the scene around 2 p.m., NEWS.ORG 13 reporters observed multiple police cars and officers stationed throughout the area, with a mobile police command center also set up.
No Success in Capturing Suspect

According to Southaven Police, the robbery occurred at a MetroPCS phone store on Stateline Road in Southaven, Miss., on Friday, April 19, 2024. The suspect, described as an armed individual wearing a cream and black hooded sweatshirt, allegedly tied up an employee during the course of the robbery.
