Parking Adjustments
The city plans to introduce 300 additional paid on-street parking meters and implement charges for parking on Sundays and holidays. Moreover, the daily maximum rates at parking garages will see an increase.
Electric Vehicle Charging
Free electric vehicle charging at city parking garages will no longer be available. The city cites the need to cover electricity costs and maintain chargers as reasons for this change, estimating savings of approximately $100,000 in the next fiscal year.
Increased Recreational Fees
Fees for various recreational services provided by the city, such as adult sports field rentals, summer camps, and block party permits, will see an increase. However, proposed hikes for youth sports field rentals and adjustments to community center fee waivers were reversed during the budget’s final approval.
Credit Card Transaction Fees
Residents paying city fees or fines via credit card will now incur merchant fees previously covered by the city. This adjustment is part of cost-saving measures outlined in the budget.
Staffing Adjustments
The city has eliminated over 75 full-time equivalent positions that were vacant across various departments. Despite these reductions, certain departments have added new positions. The Youth, Parks, and Community Enrichment department experienced the largest reduction with over 40 unfilled positions being cut.
