National City, California, has designated June 12 as San Diego County Fair Day, joining other cities in the region celebrating the annual event.
National City’s Proclamation
Mayor Ron Morrison and councilmembers of National City recently presented an official proclamation to the 22nd District Agricultural Association (22nd DAA), the organization responsible for the Del Mar Fairgrounds and the production of the county fair each year.
Luis Valdivia, the Marketing Specialist, and Tristan Hallman, the Chief Communications Officer, represented the 22nd DAA during the proclamation ceremony.
Historical Significance
National City holds historical significance in the fair’s legacy, being the site of the inaugural San Diego County Fair in 1880. It was also the first to declare June 12 as San Diego County Fair Day.
Regional Participation
Other cities in the region have followed suit, with 11 municipalities and the County of San Diego confirming plans to make similar proclamations. These cities include:
