A dispute over guacamole escalated into violence at a Chipotle restaurant located on Evergreen Road near Civic Center Drive in Southfield, Michigan, leading to a customer shooting an employee in the leg on Friday night.

The altercation, which occurred around 6:50 p.m., resulted in a 21-year-old Chipotle worker sustaining a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. Witnesses reported that the dispute between the customer and the employee turned physical before the shooting took place.
Michael Beals, a customer who witnessed the incident and captured it on video, described the chaos, stating, It was loud, and then we all just ran out. I wasn’t really thinking… there was going to be a shot, but there was.
Another witness, Thomas Huber, recounted the sequence of events, noting, One of the workers went to the back, I don’t know why, and then when he was in the back, the customer walked around the counter, tried to grab his food and put it in a bag. Then the employee came back, and they started fighting, and then we heard a gunshot and just ran out as quick as we could.
Arrest of Suspect
The suspected shooter, identified as a 31-year-old man from Detroit, fled the scene after the shooting but was later apprehended by authorities. He was taken into custody shortly after leaving the Chipotle restaurant.

As per a release from the Southfield police, the victim is in stable condition and receiving medical treatment at a local hospital for the gunshot wound.
