During an Eid al-Fitr celebration near the 4700 block of Wyalusing Avenue, approximately 30 gunshots were fired, causing panic among the attendees. The police, already present at the event, swiftly responded to the situation.
Injuries and Arrests
- One 15-year-old attendee, armed with an assault rifle, was shot by a police officer after allegedly refusing to drop the weapon. The officer acted quickly, transporting the wounded teenager to the Children’s Hospital Of Philadelphia (CHOP) for treatment.
- Additionally, a 22-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to his stomach, while another 15-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to his finger. Both were taken to nearby hospitals and are reported to be in stable condition.
- Amid the chaos, a 15-year-old girl was accidentally struck by a Philadelphia Police patrol wagon. She too was taken to CHOP with a fractured leg.
- Authorities have arrested five individuals in connection with the incident, including the teenager shot by the police. Five firearms were also recovered from the scene, adding to the severity of the situation.
