Suspect Barricades Themselves in Motorhome, Closing Southbound I-15 in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada – Las Vegas police are currently investigating a shooting incident that resulted in one fatality and left two others injured on Thursday evening.

Police Response and Details

Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) were summoned near the intersection of Elkhorn and Durango shortly before 7 p.m. The incident unfolded at the 7300 block of Nautical Stone Court around 6:34 p.m. According to LVMPD Homicide Lt. Jason Johansson, officers received reports of multiple individuals sustaining gunshot wounds upon their arrival at the scene.

Upon reaching the location, officers discovered two victims in the street with apparent gunshot injuries. They swiftly moved the victims to a secure area for medical assistance before transporting them to UMC (University Medical Center).

Lt. Johansson noted the discernible nature of the incident’s origins, identifying the residence where the shooting occurred and the one housing the suspect. The suspect, identified as a male in his 30s, surrendered to authorities without resistance after the garage door of the residence was opened.

Victims and Suspect

The deceased victim, a male in his 30s, succumbed to injuries sustained during the altercation. Meanwhile, a woman in her 30s and a man in his 40s suffered non-life-threatening injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.

Police speculate that all involved parties, including the suspect and initial victims, may have been roommates engaged in a verbal dispute that escalated into a physical confrontation. The suspect purportedly brandished a firearm during the altercation, using it to injure the victims.

Innocent Bystander

A woman in her 30s, residing across the street, was inadvertently struck by gunfire during the incident, according to Lt. Johansson. Described as a completely innocent bystander, she was also transported to the hospital for medical attention.

Scene and Investigation

Describing the neighborhood as extremely tight, Lt. Johansson emphasized the complexity of the ongoing investigation. Officers anticipate a prolonged presence at the scene to meticulously process the evidence.

Residents in the vicinity who encounter road closures are assured assistance from law enforcement to access their homes, even if it requires accompanying them on foot.

The incident underscores the challenges and risks associated with gun violence in communities, prompting continued efforts to address its root causes and mitigate its impact.
