Court documents reveal that a shooting incident took place on January 12, around 7:45 p.m., at a Wing Stop located at 5309 W. 10th Street on Indy’s west side.
Scene Description
Upon arrival, officers discovered numerous shell casings and the front glass of the restaurant shattered by bullet holes. Bullet holes were found in the counter, interior walls, and a van parked outside the store.
Altercation
According to witness testimonies and surveillance footage, 49-year-old Lawrence Sneed, a customer, became irate after being informed that the restaurant’s ordering system was down. This led to a confrontation between Sneed and a Wing Stop employee.
Exchange of Gunfire
Gunfire erupted during the altercation, with conflicting accounts of who initiated the shooting. Some witnesses claimed Sneed fired first, while others stated that it was the Wing Stop employee who opened fire.
Employee’s Defense
The Wing Stop employee involved in the shooting claimed self-defense, stating that he was trying to protect his co-workers. One co-worker supported his actions, expressing gratitude for potentially saving lives.
Injuries and Arrest
Sneed sustained gunshot wounds and underwent surgery, resulting in the removal of organs. He has been charged with criminal recklessness and attempted battery with a deadly weapon. An arrest warrant has been issued for Sneed, who was apprehended on Friday.
Legal Proceedings
As of now, no charges have been filed against the Wing Stop employee involved in the incident. The legal proceedings continue as authorities investigate further.
