Houston police reported a shooting incident outside a club on Washington Avenue resulting from an altercation between patrons and security personnel.

Incident Details

The shooting occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Washington Avenue, specifically between Reinerman Street and Sandman Street. The altercation began when club security and off-duty Harris County sheriff’s deputies intervened in a fight between two men inside the establishment. Following the altercation, security and deputies requested the two men to leave the club premises. However, outside the club, the situation escalated as the men continued arguing with security and deputies.

Escalation and Gunfire

According to Houston Police Department (HPD), one of the men involved in the altercation entered a nearby black Chevrolet SUV, while the other remained engaged in a verbal dispute. Subsequently, the man inside the SUV began firing shots towards the security personnel from within the vehicle, before fleeing the scene. Assistant Chief Wyatt Martin from HPD expressed concern over the indiscriminate firing, highlighting the disregard for public safety exhibited by the suspects.

Victims and Response

Four individuals, including members of the security staff, sustained gunshot wounds during the incident. Fortunately, none of the deputies present were injured. Due to the densely populated area, law enforcement officers refrained from returning fire. Emergency medical services responded promptly, with two victims undergoing surgery at a nearby hospital, while the remaining two received on-site treatment from the Houston Fire Department.

Suspects Description and Appeal for Information

HPD provided descriptions of the suspects as men in their 20s, one wearing a white t-shirt and blue pants, and the other wearing a green shirt and blue pants. Authorities urged anyone with relevant information to contact HPD at 713-884-3131.
