Shooting Incident Leaves One Dead, Another Injured

Louisville, Ky. – A tragic shooting incident at a business in the Iroquois neighborhood has left one man dead and another hospitalized, according to Louisville Metro Police (LMPD).

Scene Details

LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis reported that the authorities responded to a shooting in the 4400 block of Taylor Boulevard, near Southern Parkway, around 8:56 p.m. The incident occurred within a business establishment.

Upon arrival, officers discovered two men with gunshot wounds inside the premises. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported both individuals to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment.

Casualties

Regrettably, one of the victims, identified as 21-year-old Dion Smith Jr. of Louisville, succumbed to his injuries shortly after being admitted to the hospital. The other victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was reported to be alert and conscious.

LMPD’s Homicide Unit has taken charge of the investigation into this tragic incident. The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the motive and any potential suspects, are currently under scrutiny.

Suspect Apprehended

In an update provided by Ellis on Sunday morning, it was revealed that 18-year-old Gage Lewis of Louisville had been arrested and initially charged with murder in connection with the shooting. Surveillance footage played a crucial role in identifying Lewis as a suspect.
