A man was apprehended by authorities after a SWAT standoff and a confrontation involving an officer in southwest Houston, as reported by the Houston Police Department.
Incident Details
The incident unfolded outside a residence on Buffalo Speedway, situated just south of West Orem. Houston police responded to a call from a mother around 1 a.m. The mother reported that her mentally ill adult son had made threats against himself and other family members.
Upon arrival, a patrol officer encountered the son, who allegedly aimed a gun at the officer. In response, the officer discharged one round.
Suspect’s Actions
Following the gunfire, the suspect, who remained unharmed, retreated into a trailer on the property. He reportedly barricaded himself inside, expressing a desire for the officer to end his life.
Resolution
After a period of negotiation, law enforcement successfully persuaded the suspect to exit the premises. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained during the incident.
