You see, when you’re up in the sky, the atmosphere isn’t always as calm as it looks from the ground. Sometimes, just like how wind can make waves in the ocean, it can also cause the air to become bumpy. When an airplane flies through this bumpy air, it can feel like a little bit of a ride.
Now, turbulence can happen for a few reasons. Sometimes it’s because of changes in the weather, like thunderstorms or strong winds. Other times, it’s because of the way air flows around mountains or over hot and cold patches.
But here’s the cool part: turbulence might feel a bit unsettling, but it’s totally normal and not usually anything to worry about. Just like how a car can handle a pothole, airplanes are built to handle turbulence too. Pilots are trained to deal with it, and planes are designed to withstand it. So, even though it might make your stomach do a little flip, know that you’re in good hands up there!
