San Diego, California – In the early hours of Friday morning, a suspect was apprehended following a stabbing incident near the renowned Tacos El Gordo eatery in the Gaslamp Quarter.
Altercation Leads to Stabbing
The altercation, which escalated into violence, took place outside the popular eatery located on F Street at Fifth Avenue. San Diego Police reported that 24-year-old Eduardo Magdalena was involved in a physical altercation with a group of bystanders. Despite walking away initially, Magdalena returned armed with a knife and proceeded to stab a 23-year-old Hispanic man who was not involved in the initial altercation.
Victim Hospitalized
The victim sustained a 2-inch laceration to his chest and was promptly transported to the hospital. Medical personnel performed surgery due to a collapsed lung, and the victim is currently in stable condition, according to police reports.
Arrest and Charges
Eduardo Magdalena, identified by witnesses as the assailant, was swiftly apprehended by law enforcement. He faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and has been booked into the San Diego Central Jail pending further legal proceedings.
