A suspect shot by police while allegedly driving a stolen car at officers has died, following an incident that unfolded on Sunday night. The shooting occurred just after 7 p.m. at an apartment complex situated at the corner of La Cantera Terrace and Eilan Terrace on the Far Northwest Side of San Antonio.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a car in the parking lot that had been reported stolen. Taking action, the officers blocked the stolen vehicle into its parking space with their patrol car, before proceeding to address the primary call at the apartment complex pool.

Shortly thereafter, the suspect returned to the stolen car. Upon realizing that the vehicle was blocked in, the suspect attempted to flee the scene by driving over a curb. At this juncture, the two officers, who were returning to their vehicle, observed the suspect’s actions.

Alleged Threat to Officers

As the suspect maneuvered the stolen car over the curb, the situation escalated when the suspect allegedly drove directly at the two officers. In response to this perceived threat, the officers opened fire at the suspect, ultimately striking them.

Fortunately, neither of the officers involved, both of whom have just over a year of service with the department, sustained any injuries during the incident.
