LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. – Law enforcement arrested a suspected gunman after reports of shots fired from a Marina del Rey apartment rooftop, prompting an active-shooter response.
Details of the Incident
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call reporting gunfire from the Marina 41 Apartments in the 4100 block of Via Marina around 10:15 p.m. Saturday night. According to LASD, the suspect allegedly fired randomly from the rooftop.
Witnesses recounted hearing 30 to 50 or more rounds discharged, noting that the shooter wielded multiple firearms, including AR-15 rifles and several pistols, along with ample ammunition. Shockingly, reports indicated that the alleged perpetrator was livestreaming the incident on social media platforms.
Deputies swiftly cordoned off nearby streets, including via Dolce and via Marina south of Washington Boulevard, advising residents to seek shelter in place during the unfolding situation, stated Sgt. Tim Gannon of the sheriff’s Marina del Rey station. The suspect was apprehended around 1:30 a.m., according to a report by City News Service (CNS).

Authorities have not disclosed the suspect’s identity as of early Sunday morning. Eyewitnesses described the shooter as a 41-year-old self-employed chef specializing in organic traditional Vietnamese cuisine. However, the motive behind the indiscriminate shooting spree remains undisclosed.
