Euless, Grand Prairie, Arlington – June 19, 2024
Two individuals have been apprehended following a dramatic police chase spanning three North Texas cities earlier this week. The incident, initiated by a suspected DWI stop in Euless, escalated into a high-speed pursuit involving gunfire, spike strips, and intense police maneuvers.
Incident Details
Euless police officers initially attempted to stop a driver for erratic driving behavior suspected to be related to driving while intoxicated (DWI). Instead of complying, the driver accelerated, igniting a pursuit that traversed Euless, Grand Prairie, and Arlington over a harrowing 25-minute span.
Chase Highlights
The chase, captured on video released by Euless police, depicted the silver Chevy Impala evading police while reportedly firing shots at pursuing officers on State Highway 161 in Grand Prairie. Police reacted by deploying spike strips, causing the vehicle’s tires to deflate and emit sparks as it continued fleeing through city streets.
Police Response
Euless Assistant Chief Gary Landers praised the officers’ response, noting their adherence to protocol amid the escalating danger. Every officer involved did exactly what they were trained to do, Landers affirmed, emphasizing the precautions taken once gunfire was directed at law enforcement.
Arrest and Charges
Following the termination of the chase on Monteleon Street in Grand Prairie, both occupants of the Impala, identified as Micky Greeson, 39, and Chaya Greeson, 38, were taken into custody without injury to officers or bystanders. Micky Greeson faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault against a public servant, evading arrest with a vehicle, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Chaya Greeson has been charged with aggravated assault against a public servant and possession of a controlled substance.
Conclusion
The apprehension of the suspects marked the end of a dangerous pursuit that highlighted the risks and challenges faced by law enforcement in ensuring public safety during such incidents.
