Authorities seek community assistance in unraveling the mysterious murder of Joseph Banales, a senior Reserve Officer Training Corps cadet at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio.

Tragic Incident on I-35 North

Joseph Banales met a tragic fate when he was shot and killed while driving his vehicle on I-35 North near the Forum at Olympia Parkway in Selma, Texas, on April 15, 2023.

Appeal for Community Support

Selma Police Department, in collaboration with the US Army Criminal Investigation Division, urges the community to come forward with any information regarding the incident. A vehicle of interest, described as a dark, possibly blue, sports car with loud aftermarket exhaust and possibly a spoiler, was identified near the crime scene.

Individuals with information relevant to the case are encouraged to contact Selma police or Crime Stoppers of San Antonio.
