Atlanta’s Mayor Andre Dickens is shaking up his administration to propel his vision of moving the city forward and making it an ideal place for families. The recent changes, announced in a press release from the mayor’s office, aim to bolster key areas such as public safety, affordable housing, operational efficiency, and ethical governance.

The appointments, effective following a transition period, include several notable figures:

• LaChandra Butler Burks appointed as Interim Chief Operating Officer, City of Atlanta
• Jan Lennon named Interim General Manager, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
• Al Wiggins Jr. selected as Commissioner, Department of Watershed Management, City of Atlanta
• Kentorri Garmon designated as Interim Commissioner, Department of Public Works, City of Atlanta
• Peter Aman appointed as Chief Strategy Officer, City of Atlanta

Mayor Dickens stressed that these changes are instrumental in accelerating the execution of his comprehensive agenda. He emphasized the city’s commitment to safety, health, connectivity, and equal access for all residents, underlining that these goals are not distant aspirations but immediate priorities.

Expressing gratitude to outgoing team members, Dickens thanked Lisa Y. Benjamin, Balram B Bheodari, and Mikita K. Browning for their dedicated service. The new appointments represent a blend of seasoned leaders and fresh perspectives.

LaChandra Butler Burks, who previously served as Deputy Chief Operating Officer, steps into the role of Interim COO. Jan Lennon, currently Deputy General Manager of Operations at Hartsfield-Jackson, assumes the position of Interim General Manager, with plans for a permanent replacement by year’s end.

Al Wiggins Jr. transitions from Commissioner of Public Works to Commissioner of Watershed Management, while Kentorri Garmon fills the interim role at Public Works. Peter Aman, bringing extensive experience from Bain & Company and EY-Parthenon, takes on the newly established role of Chief Strategy Officer to support major city initiatives.

In addition to these changes, Mayor Dickens appointed Pierce Hand Seitz to the City of Atlanta Municipal Court. Seitz’s background in advocating for tenants’ rights and access to quality housing, along with his legal expertise, positions him well for this role.
