BUDA, Texas – New details have surfaced regarding the tragic bus accident in Bastrop County that claimed two lives, including that of a Pre-K student, on Friday.
Bus Trip Ends in Tragedy
The victims were part of a group from Tom Green Elementary in Buda, returning from a field trip to the Bastrop Zoo. The collision occurred on State Highway 21 when a concrete truck veered off the road, striking the school bus. Subsequently, another vehicle crashed into the rear of the bus, resulting in the death of its driver.
Community Response and Support
Following the incident, three staff members and two students from Tom Green Elementary remain hospitalized. The school’s principal has urged the community to prioritize self-care, announcing the cancellation of classes on Monday. Crisis and trauma counselors will be available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Tom Green, with transportation arrangements offered for students in need of support services.
