The Turlock Police Department has made public the body-worn camera footage of an officer-involved shooting that occurred recently in Turlock, California.
On April 10th, in the 900 block of Vermont Avenue, officers Juan Arroyo and Donna Anthieny responded to a 911 call reporting a suspicious individual seen looking into vehicles around 5:00 a.m.
Officers Encounter Suspect
Upon arriving at the scene, Officers Arroyo and Anthieny encountered the suspect, later identified as 37-year-old Corey Pollard. Pollard attempted to conceal himself behind an SUV and exhibited erratic behavior, ignoring commands from the officers.
Escalation of Situation
According to Turlock Police Chief Jason Hedden, Pollard approached Officer Anthieny while holding a black object above his head. In response to the perceived threat, Officer Arroyo discharged his firearm, striking Pollard in the shoulder.
