Indianapolis – Jewel Dotson, 35, and Tre Len Whitfield, 22, were apprehended by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department following a reported armed robbery in the vicinity of downtown Indianapolis.
Early Tuesday morning, officers from the southwest district responded to a home invasion robbery in the 1000 block of Union Street. According to police reports, three victims present during the incident recounted the events to law enforcement.
Sequence of Events
Witnesses stated that an unidentified man approached the residence, requesting to speak with an occupant. Simultaneously, another individual entered the home, brandishing a firearm and seizing a purse containing approximately $6,000 in uniquely identifiable bills. The perpetrators subsequently departed together from the scene.
Arrest and Recovery
Utilizing information provided by the victims, detectives swiftly identified a primary suspect. Law enforcement intercepted the suspect’s vehicle on I-465 and conducted a traffic stop, leading to the detention of Dotson, the driver, and Whitfield, a passenger. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a handgun and a significant amount of cash, including the marked bills.
Further searches of a residence in the 3100 block of South Harlan Street uncovered additional evidence, including the firearm allegedly used during the robbery and nearly $3,800 of the stolen money.
