Two individuals sustained critical injuries following a collision involving a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (CCCFPD) firetruck on Interstate Highway 680 in Walnut Creek.

The unfortunate event transpired around 10 a.m. on Saturday morning near the Olympic Boulevard exit. District spokeswoman Lauren Ono provided insights, indicating that the passenger vehicle collided with the firetruck, which was positioned to safeguard firefighters attending to a prior vehicular accident.
