Louisville Metro Police are investigating a shooting incident in the St. Denis neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, where two men were shot, and a subsequent vehicle pursuit took place after one victim’s car was stolen.
Shooting Incident and Vehicle Pursuit
The incident occurred in the 4900 block of Saddlebrook Lane, adjacent to Rockford Lane and Cane Run Road, in southwest Jefferson County. Officers responded to multiple reports of a shooting just after 3 p.m. According to LMPD spokesperson Sgt. Matt Sanders, upon arrival, police discovered two gunshot victims. One of the victims had their car stolen during the altercation, leading to a pursuit.
An officer spotted the stolen vehicle near Cane Run Road and Rockford Lane, initiating a pursuit that culminated in a crash in the 1400 block of Catalpa, near Maupin Elementary School, in the Parkland neighborhood. The incident prompted a temporary lockdown of the school.
Suspects Apprehended and Victims Transported
Following the pursuit, officers detained one suspect, while another is believed to be at large. Both gunshot victims were transported to University Hospital, where they are expected to survive. One victim underwent emergency surgery for a gunshot wound to the neck, as confirmed by Sanders.
Investigation and Appeal for Information
The investigation into the incident is being handled by LMPD’s Robbery Unit due to the carjacking aspect of the crime. As of now, no charges have been filed, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
