LOS ANGELES – Law enforcement officers arrested nearly 100 individuals during a pro-Palestinian demonstration held at the University of Southern California (USC). The protest, known as the Gaza Solidarity Occupation, forms part of a broader trend of college demonstrations across the nation supporting Palestinians amid the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Police Intervention and Arrests
On Wednesday, around 5 p.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) intervened, issuing a dispersal order to protesters on the USC campus. Subsequently, 93 individuals were peacefully arrested. Footage captured by FOX 11 depicted the orderly detainment process.
Campus Closure and Response
Following the protest, USC closed its campus to the general public. A statement from USC President Carol Folt was released two days after the demonstration, acknowledging the events on campus.
